Champagne: A Story of Men and Women.

Just as with the history of champagne and its famous names—such as Dom Pérignon and Veuve Clicquot—the history of the Boutillez Vignon family began with men and then women, and our family’s history dates back just as far as that of these illustrious figures in the world of champagne.

Evidence of the Boutillez family and their winemaking activities in the village of Villers-Marmery dates back to the 16th century.

Following in the footsteps of several generations, our father, Gérard, took over part of the family estate from our grandmother Germaine and founded his own estate in 1964. After meeting our mother, Colette—who also came from a family of winemakers—they decided to embark on the adventure of creating their own brand of champagne. Their first bottles were produced in 1974.
Our parents passed on their knowledge and passion for their craft to us, and we took over the business in 2010.

We look forward to sharing our story and our values with you—whether at a wine fair, during a delivery, or when you visit our winery.

Women have always played a vital role in our family business. Germaine Boutillez, a young widow, managed the vineyard for many years and encouraged our father to attend the Avize Wine School to perfect his knowledge of vineyard management and champagne production. Nelly Vignon, our maternal grandmother, who was already well-versed in the champagne business, trained our mother in the various aspects of vineyard management and champagne sales.
